For Honor's new Hero, an Aztec-inspired warrior known as the Ocelotl, will join the game on July 27 - and that's not all. That same day, For Honor will kick off a free week that runs until August 3, and launch Performance Mode on consoles, enabling console players to adjust their settings for a higher framerate after downloading the latest title update.
Dual-wielding a Macuahuitl club and Tepoztopilli spear, the Ocelotl can stalk opponents and strike with overwhelming strength. Represented in the story by a hunter named Mixcoatl, who fights for vengeance against the Conquistador Vela (introduced earlier in Year 7 Season 2), the Ocelotl is the fourth Outlander Hero after the Afeera, Pirate, and Medjay, and will be available for purchase starting July 27, or unlockable with 15,0000 Steel starting August 10. The Ocelotl's launch also coincides with a free Event Pass, which includes a Battle Outfit, Effect, and Ornament.
Performance Mode arrives alongside the Ocelotl on July 27 for the console versions of For Honor, and players can choose between it and the existing Quality Mode in the game's graphics settings. Enabling Performance Mode will set the resolution to 1080p and reduces graphical detail, but unlocks the framerate and Vsync, and enables variable refresh rate (VRR) on Xbox One S, Xbox One X, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5 to avoid screen tearing.
Also beginning July 27, the free week grants access to For Honor's Standard Edition until August 3, and players who decide to purchase the full game can carry over their progression and unlocked Heroes after the free period ends. If you haven't yet experienced For Honor, the free week is also an opportunity to get acclimated to the game through the new onboarding feature, which improves the in-game tutorials to offer new players a smoother introduction before diving into multiplayer.
For Honor is available now on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store, and Ubisoft Connect, and is included with a Ubisoft+ subscription. For more on the game, check out the Afeera Hero and keep an eye on Ubisoft News.
