Assassin's Creed Origins is still a few weeks from its October 27 release, but fans eager to delve into Bayek's story can start by exploring his past in Assassin's Creed Origins - Desert Oath, a prequel by veteran Assassin's Creed novelist Oliver Bowden. Set in 70 BCE, years before the events of the game, the novel follows a teenage Bayek as he leaves his village of Siwa in search of his missing father, who left the village abruptly and without explanation.
As Bayek travels along the Nile and discovers the larger world outside Siwa, his quest for answers leads him to another mystery: Someone is methodically hunting and killing off the Medjay. With Egypt in turmoil and his order's ranks growing thin, Bayek will need to rely on his friends - including his future wife, Aya - to survive long enough to unravel the conspiracy.
Published by Ubisoft, Assassin's Creed Origins - Desert Oath is now available in paperback and digital formats. Assassin's Creed Origins will be available on Xbox One, PS4, and PC on October 27; for more, check out our previous Assassin's Creed coverage.
