Just Dance 2024 Edition is coming to Nintendo Switch, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S on October 24, and is giving players an 18th century-inspired experience with an all new Just Dance map. In A Night in the Château de Versailles, you can hit the Versailles ballroom floor to the tune of baroque beats with a modern pop twist. Ubisoft created the map in partnership with the French National Center of Cinema and the Moving Image (CNC) and the Palace of Versailles.
All aspects of A Night in the Château de Versailles – including the locations, music, dancing, and costumes – mix historical authenticity with upbeat pop elements. In this new map, players will be transported to the World Heritage Site, where they can bust a move while admiring the beautiful gardens, the Latona fountain, and the majestic Hall of Mirrors.
The map features a modern pop arrangement of two baroque musical pieces: Lully's “Marche Turque (March for the Turkish Ceremony)” and Rameau's “Les Sauvages (The Savages).” The choreography combines modern dance moves with classic court dances and was developed and designed by Ubisoft and Château de Versailles Spectacles, and with support of the CNC.
The partnership between the CNC, Palace of Versailles, and Ubisoft was developed as part of the Cultural Olympiad program. In the lead-up to the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the Cultural Olympiad program has been set up by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to promote dialogue between sport and culture across France and French territories.
Cathérine Pégard, President of Palace of Versailles, mentioned how this partnership “was a challenge to incorporate the Palace of Versailles into a videogame; but in the end this challenge fits well with this perpetual interplay between our history, heritage and creation. Between past and present.”
