It's been two decades since Rayman, Ubisoft's limbless hero, debuted in his first self-titled game, and he's been through a lot of changes since then. Going from 2D, to 3D, to party games and back to 2D again, he's been re-imagined in nearly every outing, taking his place not just as Ubisoft's mascot, but as one of its most inventive characters. To celebrate 20 years of colorful, platform-hopping madness, creator Michel Ancel will participate in a special Twitch livestream today from 8-10AM PST, viewable at twitch.tv/ubisoft and youtube.com/ubisoft.
Highlighting the series' evolution over the years, the livestream will feature live gameplay of the very first Rayman, originally released in 1995. It'll also give fans an opportunity to ask Rayman-related questions directly to Ancel and the development team at Ubisoft Montpelier.
Rayman fans wielding mobile devices also have a lot to celebrate in the coming weeks, as Rayman Adventures – currently available exclusively on Apple TV – will arrive on mobile platforms on December 3, bringing new characters (called Incrediballs) and a bigger focus on exploration to Rayman's mobile adventures.
