Assassin’s Creed Mirage revealed eight minutes of brand-new gameplay at Ubisoft Forward, giving players a deeper look at what awaits them when the game releases on October 12 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, Luna, and as part of a Ubisoft+ subscription. Creative Director Stéphane Boudon and Art Director Jean-Luc Sala broke down all the new gameplay shown, calling protagonist Basim a “glass cannon” (someone capable of dealing, but not taking, heavy damage), and highlighting all the ways he can escape danger and avoid conflict thanks to new upgradeable and customizable stealth tools like blowdarts, throwing knives, traps, and more. Plus, they revealed more details on the stylish and powerful new Assassin’s Focus, an ability that lets Basim take out up to four enemies in rapid succession.
Check out the full breakdown in the video below.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage is set in ninth-century Baghdad, where we join Basim decades before we meet him in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Haunted by nightmares of a mysterious jinni, Basim joins the Hidden Ones and begins his new life as a recruit; this is the first step on his long journey to becoming a master assassin.
An homage to the original Assassin’s Creed, Mirage is a more condensed experience than recent games in the franchise and places its emphasis back on stealth gameplay. As Basim, you’ll have to utilize his complete toolset to infiltrate strongholds in the return of Black Box missions – large-scale assassination missions that can be carried out in multiple ways – and take advantage of new escape mechanics like collapsible scaffolding and pole vaults to make your getaway.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage launches on October 12. For more on Assassin’s Creed, check out how the series is coming to VR with Assassin’s Creed Nexus and mobile with Assassin’s Creed Jade.
