Today, Ubisoft announced the appointment of Istvan Tajnay as Managing Director of Ubisoft Montpellier, and Darryl Long as Managing Director of Ubisoft Toronto. Each brings more than 20 years of experience in the video game industry and their extensive background within Ubisoft as studio founders and Managing Directors to their new teams.
Starting in September, Istvan Tajnay will take on his new role as Managing Director of Ubisoft Montpellier. The former Managing Director of Ubisoft Berlin, which he founded in 2018, Tajnay then took over at Ubisoft Toronto, leading the production of Far Cry 6 and the currently in-production Splinter Cell remake. With 11 years of experience at Ubisoft, and proven production experience in a variety of gaming and entertainment brands, Tajnay now brings his knowledge and expertise to the team at Ubisoft Montpellier.
Darryl Long returns home to Canada, where he previously held leadership positions at both Ubisoft Montreal and Ubisoft Winnipeg, the latter of which he founded in 2018. He also has extensive knowledge of video game production, having previously served as a producer on Far Cry 5. Long will continue to oversee the production of Skull and Bones and the Ubisoft Singapore team until its launch, before joining his new team at Ubisoft Toronto and directing their work on upcoming titles such as the Splinter Cell remake. Ubisoft Singapore is currently recruiting for a Managing Director to lead the studio in the future.
"Istvan and Darryl are both experts in video game production, each with over 20 years of experience, much of it within Ubisoft," said Marie-Sophie de Waubert, Senior Vice President of Studio Operations. "They have both led development of some of our flagship franchises, and I am convinced that both Istvan and Darryl's expertise and human-centric leadership will be an asset to Ubisoft Montpellier and Ubisoft Toronto, guiding them in creating games of exceptional quality that touch players' hearts."
